No.... when you go in and make an edit, sometimes it changes the photo. I just changed it back to the black jersey.

seems to me schenn never had a chance from day 1 with the new coach. 5th line in training camp, always moved around- no set spot, now a healthy scratch. plenty others should have been scratched before him imo.

funny about amac. sell his contract to a European team lol...only way they rid themselves of that deal.

bill was Alt considered at all to be called up? or was Ghost a better fit because it was streit that went down? Will Alt get a chance at some point over manning in your opinion?

On the flip side, a coach also runs the risk of "losing" a player when he's too much of a designated whipping boy. Hakstol said in response to a question on Friday about accountability that he'd leave the "tougher conversations behind closed doors."

This is true, but how often has Brayden Schenn been held accountable for uneven play? It took forever just have Berube bump him out of the top 6 last year. I think he's been handed some pretty plum roles on this team since he was acquired. I feel like he's had the benefit of the doubt for a while and, to me, this was a long time coming. Hopefully, it kickstarts his game.

I didn't see all of the game, but I thought Ghost was pretty good defensively. Make some nice 1-on-1 plays where he physically separated the player from the puck at the blue line and was in generally good position. As Bill said, he's going to have his share of mistakes, but if he can play the better portion of games like last game or better, he deserves to be in the lineup.

Taking in consideration all that you've written, Bill. If Schenn's play has lacked, all the while pointing out he's not the main culprit, would Brayden Schenn be the player you would have sat? If not, who do you think has been worse?

I also didn't see the whole game but I did see him get easily beat right in front of mason and mase had to make a strong save

the way I look at is this, Ghost is probably just as good as most of the guys on D maybe even better. That's not a great accomplishment imo. When he is here for good I want him to make a difference and be much better than what they currently have. just saying he is as good as those or wont be any worse is not what I am looking for.

maybe he will be maybe he wont. also despite this only being his 2nd year of pro hockey he is a little older than most prospects. so that helps him as well.

the more discouraging aspect is this is a contract year for him and he's not playing well enough for the coaching staff to scratch him

They definitely wanted to see Gostisbehere working the power play as part of the consideration for bringing him up with Streit on LTIR. Alt may be an option if someone like Gudas goes down.

I believe this could be said of every single defenseman on this team multiple times. In fact, I've heard rumors that this even happened to Nick Lidstrom a few times. Shocking that it would happen to a rookie in his 3rd NHL game.

I am wondering if he has heard anything about where Alt is in terms of being called up. I assumed ghost was up because it was streit who was injured. I like how Alt is playing and I like how the phantoms are playing.

I would have sat Gagner rather than Schenn. But they've pushed that button already so Hakstol pushed a different button. I didn't have a big problem with it. I just want to see Schenn respond with a string of good games.

In a vacuum, I thought the way Ghost played in the preseason merited him making the team.

But given the injury he suffered and that he hadn't played games in forever, sending him to the AHL initially seemed (still seems) reasonable.

figured that was part of it.

so then you don't see Alt replacing manning anytime soon? what do they see in manning?

Have to agree here, I think the Manning experiment is done with. Hate to make a decision based on 20 games, but he just is not an everyday top-6 defenseman. I don't know if Alt, or anyone else in the system, is the answer, but Manning has played more or less terribly.

I understand the coach wanting BSchenn to step up his game, which has been poor at ES.

But then we have the silly situation of Raffl on the top PP unit when he doesn't have the skill level to belong there. So by punishing BSchenn to motivate him, Hakstol is actively hurting the team's chances to score PP goals and win games.

Easy boy, I didn't say it was a problem or anything just saw him make a clear error in the way he defended and NHL player and the guy got right by him. It was almost embarrassing so hope he learns. I understand it will happen and probably needs to for him to be better.
